Sirao Flower Farm
As Facebook kindly reminded me, it has been a year since our family's Cebu-Bohol Vacation and even though I promised I will share our wonderful experiences while on those two beautiful islands, I failed to produce a single blog post about it. So let me now fulfill that promise. In the next couple or so weeks, I'll be sharing with you our Cebu-Bohol travel tales. First stop, the lovely Sirao Flower Farm.
"A flower doesn't love you or hate you, it just exists." - Mike White
Sirao Flower Farm is popularly known as the Mini-Amsterdam of the Philippines. Located at Busay, Cebu City, Sirao Flower Farm boasts of thousands of colorful and beautiful flowers gathered in one scenic place.
In the middle of God's beautiful creation. |
The main flower grown in Sirao Flower Farm is the celosia which is a small genus of edible and ornamental plants in the amaranth family, Amaranthaceae. The name celosia is derived from a Greek word meaning "burning" which refers to the flame-like flower heads of this plant. Like tulips, celosias are colorful and very attractive.

Aside from celosia, other flowery plants can also be found in Sirao Flower Farm like sunflowers, daisies, chrysanthemums, and asters. If you love flowers, then Sirao Flower Farm will be a paradise for you.
Since we visited Cebu during the rainy month of August and they are doing some renovations, the place is not as ideal as we pictured it before visiting. It actually rained while we were there so the path walks were muddy and a bit slippery. Nonetheless, the charming array of flowers amidst a scenic mountain view more than compensate for any inconvenience we have experienced.
Our happy, little camper. |
Sadly, we weren't able to tour the whole place as the pathways were too slippery for us. |
How to Get to Sirao Flower Farm
We went there via private vehicle but it is also accessible via public transport. From any point in Cebu City, ride a jeepney or taxi going to J.Y. Square Mall in Lahug, Cebu City. In J.Y. Square Mall, there are many motorcycles, locally called habal-habal, for hire going to the flower farm. You can also hire a taxi to go to the flower farm, though it will be a little expensive as it is quite far from the city center.
Beside the Sirao Flower Farm is the Sirao Pictorial Garden and Camping Site (PGCS) which we no longer visited as we still have other destinations to visit that day. I believe that there is now an infinity pool overlooking the mountains in this place and there are other attractions here not found on the original Sirao Flower Farm.
So if you find yourself in Cebu City, take time to visit Sirao Flower Farm and marvel at the amazing beauty of nature.
Thankful for J's cousin and her husband for taking us here. |
Yours,
Lady
