Easter Eggs Scissor Cutting Exercise

A week wouldn’t pass by without my little Queen B asking me if she can use her scissors and cut some papers so our weeklong Easter activities won’t be complete without the Easter Eggs Scissor Cutting Exercise.

This activity is so easy to pull off. You will only need several pieces of colored papers, a marker, and a scissor. A basket would also be nice as a container and to catch the papers for an easy cleanup.

On your papers, draw egg shapes. I used my egg-shape cookie cutter to do this. Cut the shapes out. On your paper eggs, draw different patterns like straight lines, zigzags, and curved lines depending on your child’s skills with scissor cutting. Ours is a combination of easy ones and harder ones. Then place the paper eggs and the scissor in the basket and it’s ready.

A short introduction and safety reminder is highly recommended before starting this activity. Also, keep a close eye on your kids when doing this activity. Use age-appropriate scissors.

Cutting zigzag lines for the first time.

My little Queen B found the zigzag lines very challenging and she still can’t do curved lines which is okay as there is a hierarchy in scissor cutting. First, they must master snipping with scissors. Next is doing a fringe. The third is cutting straight lines. Fourth is cutting zigzag lines. Fifth is cutting curved lines. Lastly is cutting right angles. Turning the paper instead of their arms is something they must continuously practice before getting it right.

My nephew Xander joined us for this activity.

Practice makes perfect.

Easter is a great theme for fun, learning activities for kids.
