Mix and Match with Easter Eggs

Lately, my little Queen B enjoys connecting what she saw in the books we read to real life or to other books. She will tell me, “Ito rin siya (This is the same).” So to practice this skill, we did a Mix and Match with Easter Eggs activity.

For this activity, you will need plastic eggs of different colors, white paper or cardstock, and colored pencils or any coloring material. In your paper or cardstock, draw egg shapes. Draw a line that will divide the egg into two, the pointed tip bigger than the more rounded end side. Based on the colors of your plastic eggs, color your eggs to make different patterns. And this activity is ready. How simple is that!

Ready to start her activity.
Opening the eggs.
The pink and yellow is quite easy for her. The others not much since the colored pencils I used do not match the color of the plastic eggs exactly.
You can make your child hunt for the eggs first before doing this activity for added fun and challenge. After gathering the eggs, present the patterns to be followed and ask your child to mix and match the eggs according to those patterns. For younger kids, even the act of opening the eggs will be a challenge to them.

My little Queen B enjoyed this simple activity so much, we repeated it. We’ll probably do more repeat performances of this activity in the coming days. For older kids who are learning their alphabet’s upper and lower cases, instead of color patterns, you can ask them to match the upper case to the lower case of the letter. Write the letters using a marker on your eggs. There are so many variations of this activity.

All matched up!
Learning can be so much fun!
